About Me
James DemetrieI was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1968, and brought up in a middle-class family by my parents who proudly provided all that they could. I am very grateful for their guidance, support and love. Being of Cypriot-Greek descent, I was brought up to respect and cherish my ancestoral roots, but to be a proud Australian and to love the land we live in. Australia and Australian things are my inspiration for my passion in photography. I have been lucky enough to travel extensively and take photos throughout Australia and even to/in some amazing places abroad, namely Europe, Japan and the USA. My formal education was, with the least being said, enough to get me through at the time. Having had many 'jobs', in my working career, taught me that if I was to make something of myself it was up to me. No one would hand me success on a silver platter. Life's education became more important to me and experiencing the world and what it has to offer became my 'university'. Every thing I am now is a direct result of my hard work, my trials and my tribulations. This is not to say I am satisfied with the current result. Let me say that I am still a 'work in progress'. I still have many more mountains to climb, more rivers to cross and more I's to dot. I still chase the concept of success; maybe to an extent I am experiencing success now. What was that I saying about climbing more mountains? My day-to-day life revolves around family; my partner Maz and the kids, Jake & Tarsh and there is of course, the running of our business which involves domain names, web hosting and, yes, building web sites, such as the one you are looking at now. We look after over 680 clients now and to say we're busy is an understatement, but this too is my hobby, I am just lucky enough that we are able to make a modest living out of it. With all going to plan, we hope to be able to have the business run itself (one of our more than capable team to lead the way), allowing us to travel more and for me to do what I love doing the most. Taking photos. My photography is my escape, whether it be taking happy snaps at family 'do's' or a photographing a formal event or a bunch of flowers. As time goes by, my 'eye' widens, I see more than I had before and I get better at taking photos. I have dreams and aspirations of someday being recognised for this body of work and I hope you enjoy what you see so far. James Demetrie |
